Alma’s journey to becoming Director of Safe Route Immigration started at age 8 when he immigrated to the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. A practicing immigration attorney, Alma’s legal experience is primarily centered on affirmative and defensive asylum, with his cases spanning more than 40 different countries. During his career so far, Alma has won more than 44 asylum cases for clients arriving in the United States from countries including Mexico, Honduras, Venezuela, Haiti, Uganda, Rwanda, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, and Ukraine.
